The Toughest Parts of Being a Teenager

THE TOUGHEST PARTS OF BEING A TEENAGER

In my opinion, your teenage years are the most vulnerable stage of your life. well growing up is this long process you are never really prepared for, it takes a lot out of you but in the end, it's all worth it. If you ask me to sum up the toughest part- I could not because there is so much to it. It’s kind of like a cake with many layers which we need to peel off and the very center is where all the insecurities and everything removed. That is you, with the weight of the world removed off your shoulders

There’s a lot I want to get into:

1. Insecurities: Teenagers tend to develop a lot of insecurities like, “I’m not as pretty as her.” Or “Why do I look like this.” One thing to remember is that now is the time that our body is growing and we are going to experience a lot of changes. Teenagers tend to become insecure about things like their looks or their skin or they don’t want to do certain things because they feel like people are constantly judging them. All these insecurities are all in your mind but remember if someone is going through something or you are aware that someone is insecure about a certain thing please don’t point it out. That’s not a nice thing to do. Everyone is unique in their own way.

2. Body Image: This is one of the main things teenagers nowadays struggle with. There is so much pressure nowadays to look a certain way. No one is ever satisfied with the way they look. It’s okay to look a certain way, you don’t need to eat more or eat less. It’s perfectly fine however you are and if someone tells you that you need to eat more or you need to eat less ignore them, their probably insecure about themselves. Maybe just try eating a little bit healthy so you don’t have health issues in the long run.

3. You start letting things go: There might be so many interests you had as you were a child but once you start growing, some of the interests you had as a child you let go. You let go of a lot of things but the worst thing to do is push people away or push things away because you feel you don’t deserve them because that is not true at all. You deserve the world and you do not need to push your loved ones away, they only want what’s best for you. I think that as your developing, your mind grows so you are not as interested as in things you used to be.

4. Stress of the future: Well this is inevitable. Your teenage years are actually the most crucial years with regards to building your future. I think school is the most stressful component in a teenager's life. there is just so much that needs to be done. It also becomes a bit of a burden at a point because balancing academics with the rest of your life is a really stressful thing to do. You never know what the future holds and that’s the scariest part. anything can happen at any time. You thought you were going in a certain direction but you end up on a totally different path. It’s a lot of work but in the end, you're creating your ideal life which excites you every day

5. You grow out of friendships: When you were small you thought that you would be friends forever or that this person will always stay by your side but growing up also includes growing out of friendships and that’s okay maybe you and your best friend now want different things and that’s okay because people grow apart and now you aren’t as close as you were with your best friend but it’s important that you handle it in a very mature way

6. Anxiety: I think this is the main issue everyone struggles with. There are many kinds of anxiety that you can have. Anxiety for different things like the future, anxiety about talking in public. It’s very hard to deal with anxiety, it takes a toll on your health. I think we are all trying our best and people should cut us some slack because we all have a lot on our plate, we can only do so much in a certain amount of time.

7. Mental health: It is kind of similar to anxiety but there is a lot of mental health issues that teenagers deal with. Sometimes we just need to take a day off because if we are not in a good mental state, nothing gets done at all. Nowadays with the pandemic, everyone’s mental health has not been the best. The best way to boost your mental health is either doing something you love, spending time with people you love, or the best- self-care

Well, I really hope you enjoyed this blog and I hope that I covered all the points. Being a teenager isn’t easy but we just got to do the best with what we got. I think the trick is to surround yourself with the people you love.

(Question of the day: what is your favourite social media platform?)
