Okay so this is a slightly big topic so I will divide it into three parts
1. Academics
2. School life
3. Life after school
Okay, so we start with academics. We go to school to learn things but at the end of it all, we take away so much more than that. We take away our friends, memories, and all the events we participated in. We learn so much more than what’s written in the textbook. I know that you’re supposed to live life and not only grind in school. Of course, you can have fun. But remember from a certain point your marks matter, it is important that you also focus on your studies because, in the end, they hold the key to your future. The best thing to do is to find a balance between both. For example, don’t study your whole life because when you will look back and you won’t remember a bunch of tests that you spent your life studying for and you want to remember all the parties you went to and all the friends you made. Have those wild Friday nights, hang out with friends enjoy your life but on the flip side don’t shy away from your responsibilities. It’s good that you enjoying your life but failing your classes is not acceptable after all you do want to end up with a life you chose and worked hard for. School teaches us so many different things like History, Geography, Math, English. Even if we don’t really want to study, it’s just the right thing. Studies are important and we need to recognize that. In a way, all the homework we are burdened with teaches us responsibility because when you work you are going to have deadlines.
We move on to your school life, this is such a big part of your life. This is the time you grow as a person, you become familiar with your likes and dislikes, your strengths and weaknesses. You start discovering yourself. This is the time you explore so many things. The time you put yourself out there. Try out for everything, don’t waste your school life thinking about everything you don’t have. You will regret it if you don’t get in, it's good at least you tried, and that is enough. No one ever teaches us how to love ourselves, how you're going to lose friends, how you’re going to be put into ‘cliques.’ There is so much we learn which we are not even taught, we are left to figure it out on our own (if you want an in-depth of this, check out my earlier blog- Life Lessons: Not from the Textbook). Remember to prioritize your academics but your mental health is equally important. Nowadays its mental health over anything. If you are not in a good place, you won’t be able to achieve anything. When something changes inside you, things change around you. It’s okay if you don’t get the best marks, as long as you tried and did your best it’s all good. Don’t compare yourselves to other people. Go to that party or throw your feet up on the desk and relax once in a while and have fun because you are too young to be stressed, and as they all say- you only live once, make the most of it.
Now, for the last part- life after school. According to me, this is one of the saddest parts, you leave everything you did behind. All the friends, the memories, all those fun nights you stayed up on facetime with the friends you thought, you are going to keep forever. It's where you leave the old you behind. You start a whole new life, you are a new person. I don’t know what happens from here, where are you destined to be, and where you decide to go but all I know is that never leave the school you behind, keep her in your heart forever because when feeling like your lost in the world and there’s no one for you, remember the school you.
Well, that was a bit of a journey. I felt like I just lived my whole life right now. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this blog and took something away from it, remember to find a balance that’s all you need to do!
(Question of the day: What’s your favourite memory of school?)
