Reality vs Life in Movies

This is something I wanted to write for a long time. We all have grown up watching movies, like, ‘High School Musical’ and ‘Clueless’ and so many others but after you finish a movie have you ever questioned yourself and thought how things like this never happen to you?You see how all these people’s lives just conveniently work out. I know many people will disagree with me but this is just my opinion and I wanted to share it with you
I will be comparing life in a movie and our reality
· I will start with the most cliché thing I can think of, happy endings. I don’t get how people’s lives just work out like that, over here you have to work and you will end up with a life you earned and sometimes things don’t even work out at all for us and I feel like we should normalize realistic movies, where not everything works out. Sometimes life just happens and it may and may not work out.
· There is one more stereotype which I think is not always true, maybe sometimes but I have seen this in every movie- the new kid gets bullied, I think that this really does not really happen much, it might in some places but I think in real life, the new kid is just lonely until some people are generous enough to reach their hand out to become friends
· One more thing I have literally seen everywhere is, people ending up with someone. It really is not applicable in real life. Sometimes you don’t really end up with someone and that’s completely ok, I don’t understand why everyone in movies ends up with someone, it’s just not real life. You might find your soulmate or might not at least you will always have yourself. Everyone finds this pressure to end up with someone but it should not be a thing in the first place.
· One more common pattern I see in movies is excelling at so many things. I mean yes there are a lot of people who do that but it is not a really common thing and it doesn’t relate to real life, there are some people who struggle to find their ultimate passion, and sometimes you may just excel at one thing, you don't have to be good at everything!
· There is the popular group, I mean every school has these, I won’t deny that but they are particularly mean like not the way it is over-exaggerated in movies. I just wish that everyone could get along, life would be so much easier and it would save a lot of people a lot of heartbreaks. I don't understand the need to form groups.
There is this quote- " I find it amusing that we all pretend to be normal when we could be insanely interesting instead." - Atlas
· The last thing I want to say is- breaking into song. I don’t get movies sometimes, when someone is sad, they break into song? That’s not how it works. When you are sad you don’t sing a song? You go to your room and cry or you watch a movie.
I feel like movies create such a fake atmosphere and we need to normalize movies that are realistic. Some of you might disagree with this but this is my opinion. I feel like we should bring about a change in the entertainment industry. We should have a movie in which the audience feels like they are apart of it or they could relate to it.
(Question of the day: What’s your favourite movie?)
