Reading Wrap-Up- April and May

So, I hadn’t been reading too much in these past few months but I did read some good books-

1. The Final Offer- Lauren Asher

Rating- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Description- It is the third book in the Dreamland Billionaires series. In order to get his part of the inheritance, Cal has to sell his grandfather’s lake house which is conveniently being occupied by his past love- Alana and her child. in order to sell the house, he has to tackle the past and deal with his feelings because Alana is not going to give up the house so easily

Review- I absolutely loved this book. You know a book is good when you can’t put it down from the moment that you pick it up. I absolutely love fictional men that are written by women. The story was easy to follow, they were so many cute moments where my heart absolutely melted and I love the whole family dynamic of this book. After seeing everyone’s character arc- I felt as if this book was the perfect end to the series. I like that Alana was headstrong and didn’t just fall for any man and she stood her ground and brought up more than valid points

“Falling in love with yourself is ten times harder than falling in love with someone else.”- The Final Offer, Lauren Asher

2. Rock Paper Scissors- Alice Feeney

Rating- ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Description- Adam and Amelia win a weekend away in Scotland and decide to take the opportunity in order to work on their marriage. Adam has a condition called face blindness in which he cannot recognize anybody. As the couple heads up to their vacation, they realize that it is not going to be a normal getaway and there is an air of mystery surrounding this whole trip. As the days go on, secrets are revealed, relationships are tested and both Adam and Amelia know that their life is never going to be the same again

Review- So the book was a little slow to begin with and a little confusing in the middle. At least for me, I found it hard to follow but that ending really redeemed the book for me. I was hooked on the second half of the book because there was no way I would have predicted the outcome of the book. It was kind of crazy and unhinged but so entertaining. I wish the plot would have picked up sooner

“Enjoy the stories of other people's lives, but don't forget to live your own.”- Rock Paper Scissors, Alice Feeney

3. The Midnight Library

Rating- ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Description- Nora Seed finds herself in the Midnight Library which exists between life and death. She is faced with choices and given the opportunity to live alternate versions of her life to see which one she will fit the best in. So many missed opportunities, regrets, and choices will come to light as Nora explores the limitless versions of her alternate lives

Review- I liked this book but I didn’t love this book. I did like some of the lessons or sayings that the author provided us with but I felt as if the book was very repetitive I wanted to dnf it halfway but I kind of liked the ending. I just felt as if it could be a little more interesting but with a storyline like this, I can see how the book continues to be repetitive. I just had higher expectations for it

“You see, doing one thing differently is very often the same as doing everything differently.”- The Midnight Library, Matt Haig

4. Today Tonight Tomorrow- Rachel Lynn Soloman

Rating- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Description- Rowan and Neil have been battling it out for valedictorian for the entire school year, Neil is named valedictorian and Rowan starts to question everything that she thought she knew. She realized that she spent her whole high school giving it her all for nothing. But when the senior class plays their final game- Howl, Rowan starts to question everything she felt about Neil and starts to see him in a different light. Maybe he isn’t as bad as she has made him out to be.

Review- So this book did start off a little slow. I felt as if the plot was not progressing as much but towards the middle- the book got really interesting. There are so many cute moments between Rowan and Neil. There were also so many points in this book where I felt as if I could relate to Rowan I see a lot of myself in her which is probably why I rated this book so high. It was a cute romance book and I would recommend it

“There’s this word in Japanese: tsundoku,” Neil says suddenly. “It’s my favorite word in any language.” “What does it mean?” He grins. “It means acquiring more books than you could ever realistically read.”- Today, Tonight, Tomorrow, Rachel Lynn Solomon

6. Six of Crows- Leigh Bardugo

Rating- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

Description- Kaz Brekker is the best-known thief- Dirtyhands is what they call him- in Ketterdam. When he is approached with an impossible proposal, he accepts. He forms a team- a convict with a thirst for revenge, a runaway with a privileged past, a sharpshooter who won’t walk away from a wager, a spy known as the Wraith, a Heartrender who uses her magic to survive the slums and Kaz. They are tasked with pulling off a heist in a place that is supposedly impenetrable. Limits are tested, friendships are built and plans are formed.

Review- When I say that this book was so slow at first, I am not exaggerating. It almost put me in a slump but I decided to pick it up and finish it. I understand that world-building is really hard to keep track of because of all the new names and places but I couldn’t bring myself to get through the first two chapters but when the book picked up-it was absolutely amazing. It was so interesting and I love that we were given the point of view of all the characters. The story was good, the characters were good and so was the writing. The .5 that I took off from the rating was for the beginning.

“The heart is an arrow. It demands aim to land true.”-Six of Crows- Leigh Bardugo
