I really like these types of blogs because it can get hard trying to put your feelings into words but when you see words or quotes that make it a little easier, we tend to gravitate towards saving them and implementing them in our lifestyle or using that them to change our mindset
I know that I personally love saving the quotes that resonate with me on my phone. I find myself constantly referring back to them
1. “You could whisper down a well. You could write a letter and keep it in a drawer. You could inscribe a curse on a ribbon of lead and bury it in the ground to lie unread for thousands of years. The point is not to find a reader, the point is the telling itself.”
- Sometimes it doesn’t matter who wrote what you read
- What matters is the content you read
- One thing you should know is that you are not alone. There is someone who feels the way you do, even if you’ll are millions of miles away
- Sometimes they might be better at capturing their feelings and if you happen to come across the words which helped them, it doesn’t matter who wrote them, it matters that you read them and it changed your perspective on things
2. “Fear not the fall but the life that comes from having never leaped at all”
- How do you know you will fail at something if you never even gave it a chance?
- We always have a million reasons not to do a certain thing but we never sit back and think about why we should do a thing
- I think what we should be afraid of is not the fact that we jump and might fall, we should be afraid of the fact that we never had the guts to make the jump at all
- Sometimes you never know how much you needed something until you try it and it changes your life
3. “All these people think love is for show but I would die for you in secret”
- Okay, so this really is not a quote but a lyric from Taylor Swift’s song called ‘Peace’
- I just felt so drawn to this lyric because of the truth behind it
- Love is not what you parade around and show anyone, it is those moments with you and your person that remain between you both
- This does not necessarily have to apply to a relationship it could be a friendship or even family
- It is what you would do for the person that remains in the unsaid that really showcases love
4. “Being positive isn’t pretending that everything is good- it is seeing the good in everything”
- I think this is a huge misconception that people have when they see someone trying to be positive
- It is not the fact that they are always smiling, it is about the fact that they are finding as many reasons they can smile
- Pretending that everything is okay is never the answer, you will always have problems and the with the good the bad will come
- Finding a way to solve the problems is what really counts in the end
5. “I think you carry the people you’ve loved with you forever, not in a “you can never get over them” way but more like loving them changed you and it meant something and you have to make peace with that”
- We carry around pieces of the things we love with us
- You know that one phrase that your friend always says that is now part of your vocabulary or that one show you are obsessed with because your friend told you to watch it or even that movie you really enjoyed because you watched it with your family, that is what I think we carry with us
- The love that people give changes us for the better and that is something we can never let go of and I think that is beautiful
6. “Maybe you were not a terrible person. Maybe you were just fifteen”
- So, I don’t mean this quote in the context of “when you are young they assume you know nothing” because I think that is a little extreme
- What I think this means is that we were young and we were exploring what we liked and disliked, we were making our own mistakes
- Sometimes you think you did the right thing in a situation but when you look back on it years later you feel really bad about it
- That’s why we have time to grow and develop, it doesn’t mean you will stop making mistakes when you get older but it also means that you will make better decisions
- But this saying is also no excuse to be unkind to someone on purpose
7. “We’re so distracted by how things end, we usually forget how beautiful the beginning was”
- We always mourn the ending of a certain thing but we never stop to look at the beginning
- Usually, when things end it could be anything from a relationship to a hobby- we associate it with bitterness and regret but what if you flip your perspective and think about the joy and passion it brought you in the beginning
- I feel like it is always good to change your perspective on things once in a while
- We get so caught up in ourselves and the grief something brought us that we forget that it provided some of the happiest moments of our lives
8. “Maybe we would be a lot happier if we accepted people just like we accept sunsets” “How?” “They don’t stay forever but they still make our life beautiful”
- I hugely believe in the saying that some people are in your life to teach you something and there are some people in your life for you to teach them something
- Some people are not meant to stay in your life forever, they are meant to further your chapters
- Let’s say life is like a book- people are in your book to give you chapters and make it more interesting to read right? But, in the end, you are the only one who can finish your own book
- I feel like that kind of made sense right? We need to stop stressing about how long a person will stay in our life and start enjoying the moments we have with them
9. “Slow down you’re doing fine. You can’t be everything you wanna be before your time”
- Okay, so this is another song lyric by Billy Joel from the song, ‘Vienna’
- Sometimes songs can put your feelings into words in the best possible way
- We are always in a hurry to do things and often forget to prioritize the things that matter and then we regret not having made the best of the years we have
- If you want more perspective about this, you can read- “Things I learned in 2022” posted last week
10. “But sometimes you need to go get coffee more than you actually need coffee.”
- I love the metaphorical way we can say things without actually having to say them
- I feel like this quote may mean different things to different people so I want to leave this up to your interpretation
- A nice thought for me to end the blog
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog. Do you have some quotes which you keep on your phone? I feel like they help me change my perspective on certain topics
