Hi guys, I am finally back. I had a lot of work piling up in the past month but I’m done now. I am back with another edition of quotes but there are some more exciting blogs coming soon. So I hope you enjoy it!
1. “All of it is life, all of it is precious. Don’t waste any of it doing something you don’t want to do. And do all of it with the people you love.”
- Try to do the things you’ve always wanted to do but keep your responsibilities in mind as well
- I read somewhere- “People say we only live once but that’s false, you live every day and only die once.”
- Make the most of what you have because life is sacred and there is no time to cry over spilt milk. The important thing is that you find a balance in your life because as much as we hate to admit it, we have responsibilities too
2. “Waste time this year. Go for a long walk. Write poems. Try a new recipe just because. Pray. Paint. Knit something. Read that book you have been meaning to. Work on your novel. Our world is obsessed with productivity, but our unproductive hours are the most should-shaping parts of our lives.”
- I don’t think we realize the importance of our so-called “unproductive” hours
- They shape who we are, it is only when you get time to yourself do you realize what your hobbies are
- Only when given time can you explore your strengths and weaknesses. We are so focused on doing things that all times. Sometimes we need to take a step back to understand the importance of having time to ourselves
3. “The world doesn’t make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do?”-Pablo Picasso
- This is one of my favourite quotes
- I just wanted to include it because it is so good
4. “I was seeing but not looking.”- Sally Rooney
- I came across this line in a book I was reading (reading wrap up coming soon) and I had to back and re-read that section a few times to understand the meaning of this line
- I don’t know if I can explain this line but sometimes we just see the surface of things without actually looking inside
- We merely see what is shown to us and don’t look for more
5. “Not everyone will appreciate that you’ve evolved because they still have a particular version of you stuck in their head. That is their problem, not yours. Evolve as you please.”
- One thing you should remember is that you are not responsible for the version of you that people have in their head
- Sometimes you need to realize that even the people you think are closest to you, do not always have your best intentions in mind
- You are not someone else’s responsibility.
6. “You can meet somebody tomorrow who has better intentions for you than someone you’ve known forever. Time means nothing. Character does.”
- As I said earlier, not everyone will have your best interest in mind, even the people you trust the most
- Actions speak louder than words, trust people on their actions not on their words
- Character speaks so much about a person, time doesn’t matter as much as character does
7. “Everyone has gone through something that changed them in a way that they could never go back to the person they once were.”
- You never know the battle someone is fighting or what they are going through so remember to always be considerate of the other person
- Everyone has that time that will or has changed them and, in a way, helped shape who they are as a person
- There is a reason you cannot rewind time, it teaches you something and helps us accept things, and instead of going back and changing things, we should work towards them never happening again
8. “Sometimes you have to make peace with the fact that you are the villain in someone else’s story. Even if you thought you were doing the right thing you don’t get to tell people how to narrate their experience.”- Liziwe
- One thing we cannot control is telling people how they feel
- If you hurt someone, you do not get to decide that you did not
- Everyone has a different version of you in their head and will tell their story how they want, you have no control over that and I think we need to come to terms with it
9. “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist that’s all.”- Oscar Wilde
- I want to leave this up to your interpretation
10.“A ship in harbor is safe, but that’s not what ships are built for.” - John A. Shedd
- It is kind of like our comfort zone, we all have certain things we can do in our comfort zone
- But we aren’t put here to stay within our comfort zone, it is there to show us how much more we can achieve if we just push ourselves a little bit harder
11. “Life isn’t about finding yourself. It’s about creating yourself”- George Bernard Shaw
- The thing is that we start our life from scratch so a version of us doesn’t already exist so we don’t need to find who we are, we need to create
- You can create a version of yourself that you are proud of, discovering your likes and dislikes
- You are creating new hobbies and by that you are creating yourself, not finding yourself
12. “Stop holding back on life because of fear of failure. Failure isn’t losing, it's gaining experience. Failure isn’t the end, it's redirection. Start living even if that means failing at first.”
- Failure isn’t something that should stop you, it should be a factor that would help to motivate you to succeed
- Failure should not be a fear, it helps you to assess what you are doing wrong and what you can improve on
- After all, failure is nothing but gaining experience
13. “Don’t be afraid of losing people, be afraid of losing yourself by trying to please everyone around you.”
- One thing you need to realize is that you cannot please everyone, there will always be people who will be unsatisfied or hate on you, maybe it is because they are projecting their insecurities
- There is no point of wasting so much time and stressing about what others think or what they want
- Remember to always put yourself first
14. “For the beauty of the rose we also water the thorns.” - African Proverb
- We always get the good with the bad
- It means that you have to go through the bad to get to the good parts and we have to come to terms with that
- It is like how evolving doesn’t always feel positive at first but after you went through the bad parts you have grown into the best version of yourself
15. “All humans make mistakes. What determines a person’s character aren’t the mistakes we make. It’s how we take these mistakes and turn them into lessons rather than excuses”- Colleen Hoover
- I came across this when I was reading a book as well (I can’t wait to share my review ya’ll)
- In a month you can either have a month of excuses or you can have a month of progress, it depends on you
- Everyone makes mistakes, turning them around really tells us about the character of a person
16. “Don’t fall into old patterns just because they are familiar.”
- No matter how appealing familiarity is, it is not always a good thing
- Just because it is your normal and something you know doesn’t mean you can use it as an excuse
- Patterns can be changed, habits can be changed and so can people
17. “Actually, life is beautiful and I have time”
- We need to take a step back and appreciate the beauty that is our life
- We need to appreciate the opportunities we have and stop making excuses that we do not have time
- We can make time to do the things that are important to us
18. “Happiness is not some permanent thing we are all trying to achieve in life, its merely a thing that shows up every now and then, sometimes in tiny doses that are substantial enough to keep us going” - Colleen Hoover
- As you can see there a quite a few Colleen Hoover quotes here, I am a huge fan of her work
- But I think this quote is self-explanatory
19. “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory”- Dr. Suess
- We don’t particularly live in the moment sometimes, we don’t take the time to take it all in
- When that moment becomes a memory do we really understand how much we appreciate it
20. “Don’t fear failure. Fear being in the exact same place next year as you are today.”
- What is life without progress, something to compare our past selves to how we are doing now
- Being in the same position as you are now is scarier than failure because with failure you have gained knowledge and you know where you have gone wrong
- But if you don’t try, how will you know?
I hope you enjoyed this blog. More fun blogs coming soon so stay tuned!
