Life Lessons Pt 3- Self Discovery

It’s been a long time since I’ve done one of these. So here is another one but these tips are advice for personal growth. Some stuff nobody tells you and you kind of have to go through on your own, it helps when you know this. Interpret these lessons as you please.

1. In the end, it’s you who decides your own life:

- Remember that in the end, the ultimate decision lies with you

- People can influence you but they can’t make that decision for you, it’s all up to you

- The only person who wants all the best things for you in this world, is you

- You can make whatever you want of your life

- Think of it like writing an essay- if you get someone to write your essay for you, you won’t really understand or know the true meaning of it because you can’t connect with It but if you write it yourself you find the true meaning and connect with it personally

2. Sometimes, no matter how bad you want something, it might not be the perfect fit for you:

- This is not really specific to one thing but it ranges over different categories

- Sometimes you just think that this certain thing will be the most perfect thing for you, subconsciously you know it may be toxic or not fit for you

- Learn to let things go, sometimes things do not work out and most of the times it for the best, as they say, “everything happens for a reason”

3. When life gets tough, remember why you started and what you’re working for

- Sometimes, in your journey, you lose motivation and forget that enthusiasm you started with

- Remember why you started it, it could be because your passionate or a goal

- If that is not your ultimate motivation, then think of the outcome

- For example- school- our motivations have dropped in the midst of a pandemic but remember what you are working for, your dream job, to acquire your dream life

4. Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side because it's fake

- It’s just a fancier saying for- everything is not what it seems

- Sometimes the grass looks so much better on the other side and all we want is that but when we reach the other side we realize that its fake

- We spend our whole life trying to be someone we are not (trying to get to the other side with the greener grass)

- When all we had to do is follow our passion (realize its fake)

5. Growth is the best version of self-care

- I feel like we change every day, all the time actually.

- This is because with every moment we move forward in life we experience something and the more experiences you have, the more you learn in life

- So, we can avoid the mistakes we made in the past, this contributes to the growth

- Self-care is simply not just physically pampering yourself but also mentally growing

- Grow every day into the best version of yourself

6. The only meaning to life is the one you give it

- I feel like we all, at least at one point in our life, have pondered what is the point of life itself, is everything we do a waste? What’s the point of working in school when you’re going to go forward and just end up working more

- You can do that and waste the rest of your life being unhappy over things you don’t have much control over (remember, if it’s out of your hands, it deserves peace from your mind too.)

- Or you can go and make the most of what time you have left. Yes, you have to study to ensure a future for yourself but go out (not during the pandemic obviously) when things open up and enjoy for sometime

- I feel like the best way to embody this phrase is to live with no regrets

- In the end, you will only remember your highest moments and realize the meaning of life, is the one you decided to give to it

7. No matter where you go, never forget your roots

- It’s like they say, “You can take a girl out of their hometown but you can’t take the hometown out of the girl.”

- This kind of comforts you in a way, because as we get older we might start exploring new parts of the world deciding the perfect place for us to live in and build a home

- Often, we get homesick but we are also scared because it’s a whole new world. Very unknown. Having the option of going back to our hometown often gives us the comfort we require

- That being said, venture into the unknown. There’s so much left for you to see

8. No matter how bad something feels, when it’s over, it will be the saddest day of your life

- Right now, whatever you’re doing might not feel right to you but when asked to leave you to feel a certain attachment

- Let’s say, for example, school- we work very hard in school and are exhausted all the time but when graduation comes around we never want to say goodbye

- This could also be due to the fear we have of venturing into an unknown place

- All our life school has been the place we go to almost every day but now moving on from it has a sense of discomfort

- Like Taylor Swift says, “Giving up doesn’t always mean your weak. Sometimes you're strong enough to let go.”

9. Never lose sight of your ultimate goal

- We all have that one big goal in life which we spend most of our days working towards

- Now life is not a straight line, it’s more like an unexpected triple loop on a rollercoaster

- Often, we lose sight of our goals- may be due to lack of motivation or may be due to distractions

- Learn to prioritize and focus on the right thing

- One day when you have everything you worked for, you will sit back and thank your past self for everything they did and for focusing on the important things

10. Check in with yourself, every now and then

- Sometimes you get so engrossed in all the work you’re doing that you never realize how much you’re struggling to cope with it mentally

- It could be the fact that your avoiding to acknowledge your emotions

- Sit back and ask yourself how you are doing and this time maybe validate your emotions before they get the best of you

- My best tip: listen to music (I don’t know how true this is but apparently the type of music you gravitate towards is how you’re really feeling) so maybe use that as a way of checking in with yourself

I really you hoped reading this blog. This is by far my favorite installment of the life- lessons series. I hope you use at least one of these tips in your daily life.
