Fitting In

We as people have this constant need to be liked by everyone and sometimes it can prove very dangerous for us. It is very hard to be perfect all the time just to get accepted by people whom you won’t even remember you when you grow up.
As we all know school is a brutal place, it is where the so-called ‘cliques’ are formed. Like the cool kids, the nerds, jocks, etc. according to society everyone has to fit in with the cool kids. What's the point? What joy will it bring you? Acceptance? From the people who are so insecure themselves? Have you ever thought about it, everything is not what it seems? Someone's life can look like an absolute dream to you but it’s not. They struggle so much themselves, the only difference is they choose to keep it internal.
At some point in everyone's life, you will go through an identity crisis. You need that because it’s a chance for you to grow, as a person. Find who you really are, but the thing is if you are trying so hard to be someone you are not when will you ever get the chance to grow? I read somewhere, ‘The problem with the rose being picked first is that she never has the chance to grow.’ Which is true if you try so hard to please everyone, when will you find the chance to please yourself and accept yourself for who you are?
Have you ever stopped to think about why do you want to get accepted so badly? In the end, you need friends who will stick by you right? One concept I never understood is why you would pretend to be someone's friend when you hate them, why would you waste your time pretending or spending time with someone you dislike. From what I’ve seen, fitting in is being the perfect body type, not caring enough about school, and pretending like other people are nothing compared to you. If you think about it, the kids that you aspire to be are the kid's everyone usually hates because they are so rude.
Also being perfect all the time puts so much pressure on you and at one point, you will eventually break right? How long can you be someone your not? How long can you suck up to how people who do not care about you at all? How long can you go on trying to ignore your friends because other people consider them losers? From what I have learned you are going to get judged by everyone no matter what so stop stressing over it and do what you want to
In conclusion, I want to leave you with this quote by Charles Buckowski, 'Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?'
Thanks for reading
