Body Image

(DISCLAIMER: This is a very sensitive subject to many and I understand but remember these are strictly my opinions and if you are struggling with something please talk to an adult or a professional)

This is something we as teenagers struggle with. We have this image in our head how we are supposed to look and how much we are supposed to weigh. Remember that weight is just a number! Numbers don’t define you. Society has created this negative mindset where we are not supposed to be too ‘thin’ or too 'fat.' How can we blame society if we are society? Thin people are told to eat more and fat are told to eat less. How does that work? Why do we do this? Just accept people for who they are.

But we all go through it and there is no denying it. According to me, the trick is to just have a positive mindset. If you are unhappy with the way you look, I mean you and no one else! Then instead of trying to look or worry about being thinner why don’t you try to adopt a healthy lifestyle? Try eating healthy. Try changing your mentality towards this whole situation. Instead of thinking, “Why am I so fat?” try thinking, “I love my body!”

Don’t let anyone tell you how to look and if someone tells you that you look fat or thin just say, “I love my body and the way it is.” The biggest thing you can do is try to not take what people said to the heart. Loving your body is so important I cannot express is it, it is one step closer to self-love. So how about instead of standing in front of the mirror picking out all your flaws why don’t you spend that time having a self-care night pampering yourself?

Your body image can take a toll on your mental health. You put this thought in your head that your not thin enough or that you need to eat more and then you start questioning other things like, ‘I am not good enough’ and ‘why don’t I look like her?’ body image is very important you need to have a positive attitude about it. According to me, there should not be anything like thin and fat. Everyone has a different body type.

What does it matter how you look? Why do you let a scale define you? This reminds me of something, ‘What is the greatest lesson a woman should learn?’ someone asked. The answer is ‘that since day one she's already had everything she needs within herself. It’s the world that convinced her that she did not.’
