2020

I know I’m kind of late because it's already 2021 but I feel like I still want to document 2020 as a whole in the form of a blog. It was the kind of year which will go down in history. 2020 was a rough year filled with more downs than ups and safe to say no one wants to go back, so l hope 2021 is much better than 2020

Let’s start off with the affairs which took place all over the world:

- This great year (note the sarcasm) started off with Australia Bushfires and there was so many building destroyed and so many people were affected and the environment condition deteriorated tremendously and let’s not forget all the poor animals as well, who were affected by these terrible fires. As the year progressed things only got worse.

- 2020 felt like the longest yet shortest year ever, let’s not forget that this was the year that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to quit the royal family (Yes that happened this year!) I hope they are doing well

- Then the biggest thing hit our world and probably changed our lives forever because after this I never looked at the world the same way again. Yup, you guessed it COVID-19 hit us in the face like a brick, and along with this deadly virus came many other things. We were all put in quarantine (and we are still going strong). All social interaction was put to an end and as the year went on the virus only seemed to be getting worse. My prayers go out to everyone who was greatly affected by this pandemic and my heart goes out to everyone who has lost their lives because of this deadly virus.

- Then the year just got a whole new level of bad when we all heard about Kobe and Gianna Bryant (may they rest in peace 🕊) and we were absolutely devastated. It seemed like we were just spiraling down a hole of negativity

- We went down even deeper when we heard about the saddening news of George Floyd(may he rest in peace 🕊). He was a father, a son, a human being who was a citizen like every other person but yet he was discriminated against for the colour of his skin? What happened to him was wrong, we then unified to fight for the cause which is now termed as ‘Black Lives Matter.’ No person should be treated differently just because the colour of his skin is slightly darker?

- Then we got the news of Chadwick Boseman (may he rest in peace 🕊). This year seemed endless and it was like we were just spiraling deeper

- The year ended with the U.S elections. It was Biden vs Trump. After a few days of waiting for the results, we finally were informed that BIDEN WON💙. We never thought this year could have the slightest bit of positivity but we now have not only Joe Biden but also Kamala Harris

Now 2020 as a year for me personally:

- With being under lockdown and all, I have got a lot of time to myself to just think. 2020 made me more aware of myself. It helped my grow and it pushed me to try to become the best version of myself that I could try to be and honestly it gave me so much time to reflect about things

- Since we were home for basically the whole of 2020, I got to spend so much time with the people I love, my family. It gave me lots of time (maybe a little too much) but regardless I love them so much and I’m glad we got to spend so much quality time together

- Well, without 2020 I wouldn’t have this blog! So that’s one amazing thing that happened in 2020, it's the thing I feel most accomplished of (it’s been more than half a year since I started this blog. That is crazy!)

- I feel like 2020 helped me get closer to my friends (digitally of course). I would not talk to some people if it was not for online school and the whole being at home situation and I’m glad I became close to the people I did❤️

2020 taught me so many lessons that are priceless and I will carry them with me for the rest of my life, after all, who could forget COVID-19 or 2020- the year the world paused

1. It is really the little things in life: I have heard so many people say that it is always the little things in life and this year, I truly understood the meaning of that. 2020 was a year where the littlest of things would make you happy, some of the fun family game nights or facetime with friends or even just making your bed! We have to start enjoying those small moments that we are blessed with

2. Never take anything for granted: Oh how I wish I had realised this earlier. This is the most important lesson I learned in 2020. All the days we rode with our friends on the bus, all the parties or movies you went to watch in the cinemas, all the walks we would take with our friends, all social interactions basically. I will never take anything for granted again. This truly is like the saying: we never appreciate something until we lose it

3. Live every day like it’s your last: Don’t waste the time at home, you will never get this time back ever! So do something with your time and try to live every day like it’s your last. Live with no regrets. Try something wheather it turns out good or bad it’s an experience (for more sayings like this refer to my previous blog- My favourite Quotes pt. 2)

4. Sometimes alone time is the most beneficial time: Sometimes that time you spend alone is the best time you will ever have. It helps you to reflect on yourself and honestly, it is time that is necessary. Sometimes just thinking and brooding by yourself can help you get your thoughts organized which can improve your mental health

5. Everything happens for a reason: I have stressed many times how much I believe in this. Everything that happens in this universe, happens because it is supposed to. It might be there to make you stronger or to teach you a lesson. It could be anything. Maybe the universe is giving us some time to be by ourselves and it is helping us grow

2020 was the year things changed tremendously, it was like we all went into hiding. I miss my life, I miss my friends and I miss when leaving the house was a normal thing and not preparing to go out into war. I miss when I would go and hang out with my friends and just have a great time. I want normal life back when we did not have to watch movies at home. I guess we just wait it out and see where the universe takes us

Well to conclude this blog please everyone wear a mask, wash and sanitize your hands regularly, practice social distancing, stay at home, and most importantly please stay safe

I hope we get dealt a better hand of cards and I hope 2021 treats you all much better than 2020 and I hope we can try to make 2021 full of joy, happiness, love, and laughter and try to make it a year of achievements. I hope you enjoyed this whole blog documenting 2020 in a nutshell.

Thanks for reading
